AET 007 HIGHLIGHTS OF ECUADOR

Day 1. Arrival in Quito, reception and transfer to hotel. Information briefing and welcome cocktail.
Day 2: TO OTAVALO: Visit the colorful Indian market in Otavalo. Lunch. In the afternoon visit to Cotacachi village famous for its leather goods and Cuicocha lake. Overnight in a charming hosteria
Day 3: RETURN TO QUITO: In the morning visit San Antonio de Ibarra, famous for its wood carving works. After lunch, visit to Cotacachi Pyramids complex. Overnight.
Day 4: TO COTOPAXI and BAÑOS: Departure to the south, visit to Cotopaxi National park and Limpiopungo lake, with possibility to hike to the refuge at 4800 m. Lunch at an historical hacienda. The journey continues south along the volcanoes avenue up to Baños. Overnight
Day 5: TO RIOBAMBA: Excursion along the Waterfalls Avenue, in the afternoon route to Riobamba: visit to the little village of Guano. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6: TO INGAPIRCA: Early transfer to the train station for a pleasant journey along the Devil’s Nose up to Alausi. Packed lunch. Then continue by car to Ingapirca, the most important Inca site in Ecuador. Overnight.
Day 7: TO CUENCA: Drive to Cuenca, on the way visit to Gualaceo Valley and its local market. Lunch. In the afternoon visit the city and a “Panama Hut” factory. Overnight.
Day 8: CUENCA: Full day excursion to Cajas Park and enjoy fantastic landscapes. Typical lunch. Overnight.
Day 9: CUENCA * QUITO: Transfer to the airport and flight back to Quito. Rest of day at leisure.
Day 10: QUITO: Visit to the modern quarter and the colonial area, panoramic view from el Panecillo hill, then visit the Equator monument and its ethnographic museum. Farewell dinner.
Day 11: Transfer to the airport for return flight
