By the end of the 1950's Quito had only a few hotels, in timeworn buildings of the Colonial Quarter. The demographic growth and modernizing occurring during the second half of the 20 th Century demanded new and creative ideas. The inauguration of the HOTEL QUITO in 1960 was the result of a project that understood this need.
The old city was left behind in search of a new location, one that was close to the corporate, financial and tourism centers and that, at the same time, was tranquil and with a marvelous view. The most innovative architects were brought together to design and build the hotel, that to this date, is a symbol and part of the architectural spirit of the city.
